About Me
I am a College Instructor in Music as well as a composer, arranger, orchestrator,
and published writer. I currently teach at various colleges in California online and
face-to-face courses covering a wide variety of disciplines. I obtained undergraduate
degrees in Music Theory/Composition and Piano at San Francisco State University. I
obtained my Masters and Ph.D. graduate degrees in Music Theory/Composition at University
of California, Riverside and San Diego, respectively. In addition, I am an aficionado
of World Music due to my early influence of my mother who is half Chinese and half
Greek; she was born in Kunming, China. At a very young age my mother was highly influential
of encouraging me to travel worldwide and appreciate and respect the diversity of
cultures. As a result, I authored the textbook 鈥楢n Introduction to World Music: Exploring
the Sound of Cultures鈥 published by Kendall-Hunt since 2009, in addition to other
publications. In addition to piano performance, composition, writing and arranging,
I am passionate about teaching.
