F-1 Admitted Student Checklist

Below is a helpful checklist to guide you through the visa process and preparing for your arrival in the U.S.

4	Schedule your F-1 visa interview: Make an appointment with the nearest U.S. embassy or consulate:

6	Arrange Housing: Apply for student housing, contact ISP Homestays, or begin searching for an apartment.
7	Getting Here: Purchase a plane ticket to San Francisco (SFO) or San Jose (SJC) airport. We recommend arriving a few days before the mandatory orientation to rest and recover from jet lag. Airport pickup can be arranged through ISP Homestays. You may also take a taxi, shuttle, or rideshare (Uber or Lyft) from the airport.

10	Immunization: We recommend that all F-1 students stay up to date on routine health screenings and vaccines as outlined by the and . In order to participate in some programs or services, including student housing, you may be required to submit proof of certain screenings or immunizations, such as a negative TB test and MMR vaccines. These can be obtained using your F-1 student health insurance at or a local in-network provider.
