All English/ESLL TutorsStarting week 2 you must be enrolled in and attend the one unit tutor training class with English/ESLL Coordinator Natalia Menendez. New Leaders - Language Arts LA 61A Tutor Training I Continuing Leaders - Language Arts LA 61B Tutor Training II Course DescriptionLA 61A: Training in team leading skills necessary for tutoring, including study skills, college
policies, professionalism, ethics, and role modeling of successful student behavior.
Techniques of subject-specific tutoring skills. Practice of these skills through sample
student work and, when applicable, content-specific suggestions from the tutee's instructor.
Ideal for students intending to tutor the first time in English, ESLL, or other reading
and/or composition based courses.
LA 61B: Advanced training in team leading skills necessary for tutoring. Students will be
asked to engage in advanced reflections on tutoring and advanced level critique of
one's own and other tutoring processes. Techniques of subject specific tutoring skills
with attention given to diverse learning styles. Practice of these skills through
sample student work and instructor assignments and, when applicable, content-specific
suggestions from the tutee's instructor. Ideal for students intending to tutor for
the second time.
